Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration believes negotiations in 5+2 format will be held soon

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Gheorghe Balan had a meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola. In this, he spoke about the positive results of the visit by the representatives of the 3+2 format talks to Chisinau and Tiraspol and expressed his conviction that the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format will continue in the near future, IPN reports.

According to the Reintegration Office, Gheorghe Balan informed Pirkka Tapiola about the resumption of work by the sector working groups and the joint meetings that were held in April. He also spoke about Chisinau’s position concerning the solving of the most pressing and topical problems faced by the people from both sides of the Nistru River.

In another development, the officials underlined the necessity of strengthening the intuitional capacities for implementing the country reunification policies.

Ambassador Pirkka Tapiola approved of the work done by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and assured that the European Union will continue to contribute to fostering the Transnistrian settlement process.
