Deputy Premier warns exporters about quality of exported products
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar called on the exporting economic entities to pay increased attention to the quality of the products they export, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference, Lazar spoke about the behavior of the exporters on the foreign markets and the possible consequences for Moldova's image as exporting country.
The minister said that the Ministry of Economy remains responsible for the cooperation with the regional organizations and other countries. “Owe aim to contribute to the development of these cooperation relations and remove the barriers in the trade with all the countries, not only Russia. The joint Moldovan-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation will hold a meeting in February. I, as chairman of the Moldovan delegation in the Commission, agreed with Mr Fursenco, who heads the Russian delegation, to consider possibilities of removing all the obstacles hindering trade. He and other Russian officials told us that Russia is willing to import Moldovan products, but they should be of a high quality,” Lazar said.
He also said that the IMF will help Moldova improve the legislation regulating the foreign economic relations. But for the legislative framework to be functional, the exporters must have a civilized behavior and observe all the quality conditions stated in the signed contracts.
“We will support only the economic entities that obey the rules and pay special attention to the quality of the exported products. Our advantage is that we do not have companies with a large weight in a sector and the halt in exports does not seriously affect our presence on a certain market. But we must analyze such cases and draw conclusions,” Lazar said.
