Deputy Premier Popescu to visit Portugal, Italy

Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, will be paying two working visits to Lisbon in Portugalia and to Rome in Italy during September 11-15. According to the official, the goal of the visit is to develop the bilateral dialogue and to discuss the European agenda and the stimulation of Moldova’s integration into the European Union, IPN reports, with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

The working visit to Portugal was set for September 11-12. In Lisbon, Nicu Popescu will meet with his Portuguese counterpart João Gomes Cravinho and with other high-ranking officials. There will also be signed a memorandum of cooperation between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of and European Integration of Moldova and the similar institution of the Portuguese Republic.

The Deputy Premier will be in Rome during September 14-15. There, the Moldovan official will have a meeting with his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani and will take part in hearings as part of the joint meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.

“At the end of the visit, on September 14, I will have a special meeting with our diaspora in Italy, which will take place at the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Rome starting at 6pm. I’m impatiently waiting for this occasion for meeting and discussing with you,” said Nicu Popescu.
