Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, will pay two working visits, to Luxemburg and to Copenhagen, during June 26-28, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, while in Luxemburg, Minister Popescu, ar the invitation of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU, will present the progress made in implementing the nine recommendations of the European Commission at the General Affairs Council. The Council consists of ministers and secretaries of state in charge of European affairs of all the EU member states and of high-ranking EU officials.
The GAC is responsible for a series of trans-sector policies, including the enlargement of the EU and accession negotiations. Nicu Popescu will also have bilateral meetings with a number of counterparts and officials of the EU, including the Prime Minister of Luxemburg.
In Copenhagen, the Moldovan official will take part in the conference held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Copenhagen Criteria. He will deliver a speech about the importance of the EU’s enlargement and will meet with a series of high-ranking officials.
