Given that the necessary amount of electricity is fully purchased from the Kuchurgan Power Plant, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu calls on the people to economize. The Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development urged the citizens to save electrical energy within possibilities between 7am and 10am and between 6pm and 11pm. The public institutions will also resort to saving, IPN reports.

According to the Deputy Premier, the saving will enable the country to have electricity without intervening in the daily activities. The rationalization of power consummation is essential until suitable financial solutions are identified.

“One person cannot change things, but a whole country can! I ask each of you to make effort today, tomorrow and in the immediate period. As Ukraine cannot supply electricity to us and we have to use the stored gas to receive the necessary electricity from MGRES, it is essential for us to economize as much as we can,” Andrei Spînu posted on his Facebook page.

According to the official, the citizens can save electricity by unplugging the phone chargers and domestic appliances when these are not used (- 10% in monthly consumption), by turning off the lights when leaving the room and by replacing classical lamps with LED devices that consume up to five times less.

Andrei Spînu said all the public institutions were instructed to economize. Also, from today the lighting in the Government Building, the Parliament Building and the Presidential Palace will be turned off between 7am and 10am and between 6pm and 11pm.

As from 11 October, the Republic of Moldova has been fully supplied with electrical energy by MGRES (Kuchurgan Power Plant). This is possible because Moldovagaz allocated an additional amount of 0.9 million cubic meters of gas to MGRES for producing the electricity needed for 24 hours. The measures were taken after Russian missiles hit energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine and caused a halt in the export of electrical energy to the EU and Moldova.
