Deputy PM Victor Osipov asks European partners to help work out comprehensive reunification strategy
While in Brussels on a visit, Deputy Prime Minister Victor Osipov discussed with European high-ranking officials and informed them about the current stage and prospects of settling the Transnistrian dispute, stressing the necessity of resuming the talks in the 5+2 format this year, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Reintegration Office.
The Moldovan official highlighted the importance of continuing the implementation of the measures aimed at building confidence between the banks of the Nistru, thanking the European Union for the constant support it provided in this respect.
The European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule praised the Moldovan Government for the constructive steps taken to resume the talks in the 5+2 format, saying this is the only format where a viable solution to the Transnistrian conflict can be identified. He stated that the European Commission will continue to support the efforts to build confidence between Chisinau and Tiraspol, says the communique.
The Deputy Prime Minister took part in the working meeting of the ALDE Group (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) of the European Parliament as invitee. He informed the European lawmakers about the Government's major objectives in the reunification process.
Today, April 15, Victor Osipov will participate in the special meeting of the European Parliament's delegation for relations with Moldova and will have a series of meetings with representatives of Brussels think tanks.
