Moldova continues to count on the support of the EU institutions and member states, including in terms of financial assistance, investment and strengthening its resilience. This was stated by Nicu Popescu, Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, who participated in the second EU-Moldova High Level Political and Security Dialogue, which took place in Brussels after its launch in Chisinau a year ago.

In his speech, the deputy prime minister talked about the steps taken by Moldova in its European journey and presented the measures the Moldovan authorities are taking to counter the threats we face and the attempts by certain actors to destabilize the situation in the country. Issues related to regional security in the context of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine were also addressed.

“I emphasized the importance of the assistance we receive through the European Peace Facility, a EU instrument whose purpose is to preserve peace, strengthen international security and prevent conflicts, with the EU’s investment in the resilience and security of the Republic of Moldova being also an investment for European peace and prosperity. Over the past year, our country has demonstrated that we deserve our place in the great European family, our solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the processes of strategic reform within the country being appreciated by the entire international community”, Nicu Popescu was quoted in a press statement.

The deputy prime minister thanked Moldova’s external partners for all the assistance provided in the last year and emphasized that our country continues to count on the support of EU institutions and member states, including in terms of financial assistance and investment attraction. Popescu added that our country also counts on the consolidation of the Moldova-EU hub for internal security and border management, stressing the importance of creating a civilian mission in Moldova with an advisory mandate under the Common Security and Defense Policy.
