The Anticoruption Prosecution Office started criminal proceedings on illicit corruption charges against Deputy Prosecutor General Ruslan Popov, currently suspended from office. This was confirmed to IPN by acting Prosecutor General Dumitru Robu.
“At present, a prosecution task-force assigned to the case is conducting criminal proceedings that are instrumental for such types of crimes. Given some aspects of the case, and so as not to jeopardize the investigation, the results of these proceedings will be revealed in due time by the leader of the prosecution task-force”, said Robu.
The acting PG added that the investigation has been started after prosecutors examined investigative journalism reports and other evidence.
