The deputy head of the State Ecological Inspectorate was caught last night in the act of taking 25,000 lei from a person for not performing an environmental audit at the company that the given person represented. He was questioned by prosecutors and charged, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the money was found on the functionary. If he is found guilty of passive corruption, he will serve 5 to 10 years in jail and will be fined 160,000 lei. He will also be banned from holding particular managerial posts for a period of 7 to 10 years.
