The deputy head of the Chisinau Division of Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations was placed at the remand prison of the National Anticorruption Center for 30 days, based on a ruling of the Appeals Court, which accepted the anticorruption prosecutors’ application and quashed the judgment of the Buiucani Court by which this was transferred under house arrested, IPN reports.
According to the National Anticorruption Center, the deputy head of the Division is investigated in a case of corruption alongside other functionaries and private individuals. The criminal case was started over passive corruption, influence peddling, falsification of public documents and abuse of power.
It was preliminarily established that the functionaries of the Chisinau City Hall, by agreement with intermediaries, took money for providing a number of services, such as hastening the issuing of different documents needed in the building sector and for privatizing nonresidential areas. Some of the functionaries are suspected of taking even €12,000 bribe.
