The former interim head and the incumbent deputy head of Centru sector Petru Budurin could be dismissed from post over involvement in an illegal construction located on Anton Crihan Street. At Monday’s meeting of the Chisinau City Hall, the head of Centru sector Vladimir Sarban said that the construction works on the site continue though the specialized services of the City Hall issued an ordinance to stop them. Vladimir Sarban said that under the present legislation, the dismissal of a deputy district head is not examined by the Chisinau Municipal Council, but the decision must be taken after a thorough analysis so as to avoid its contestation in court and its further cancellation. Chisinau Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said that the municipal Prosecutor’s Office gathered information on this case and ascertained that there is no reason for prosecuting Petru Budurin, but asked the local authorities in a letter to apply the administrative procedure in this case. Dorin Chirtoaca said that the explanations provided by Petru Burdurin in written form were rather formal. At the meeting, it was stressed that the State Construction Inspectorate has not yet drawn up the proceedings following City Hall’s notification. According to Dorin Chirtoaca, in such a way the Inspectorate tacitly approves the unauthorized constructions, though after the tragic accident that happened on Columna Street it said it will take drastic measures. The State Construction Inspectorate must pronounce on the construction located on Anton Crihan Street by October 30, when the 30-day legal term expires. Otherwise, the local authorities will ask the municipal Prosecutor’s Office to take measures to punish the officials that delay the investigation. The mayor general took notice of the building situated on Anton Crihan Street during a raid in Centru sector on September 17. Initially, Petru Budurin denied having a personal interest in the given building, which was erected with serious deviations from the construction authorization. After a neighbour disclosed the district head’s involvement, Budurin said he did nothing wrong. Also then, it was established that the director of the firm erecting the building was the district head’s wife.
