The number of children with the ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) syndrome is on the rise in Moldova and the educators in kindergartens find it more and more difficult to work with such children. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Svetlana Gorea, psychologist of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, said the educators do not know how to work with these children as they did not study such aspects at the faculty. The Division initiated a series of seminars on the topic, intended for kindergarten managers. “The aim is to show that this problem exists, but it can be dealt with. These children cause chaos in kindergartens as they are inattentive and noisy, put many questions without listening to the answer and the educators do not cope,” said Svetlana Gorea. The idea of the seminars appeared after the division received numerous complaints from educators last year. “Our intention is to provide them with exhaustive information about this syndrome. There are many external factors that lead to the birth of such children. The recommended mechanisms include interactive and entertainment games, drawing under classical music and other methods that the educators should known,” said the psychologist. The hyperactive children must always have an occupation. The difference between the active children and the children with the ADHD syndrome is that the latter are aggressive and violent. Until the age of 10 they need pedagogical, medical and psychological assistance. The child receives treatment for a month, takes a break of half a year and then receives treatment again. This is how this syndrome is treated. The children with the ADHD syndrome grow up aggressive if insufficient attention is devoted to them. 70-80% of the detainees had this syndrome in childhood. Among the factors that lead to the birth of such children are the genetic factor, the women’s depression during pregnancy and their age – up to 19 and after 39. In Chisinau municipality, one child in two kindergarten groups is hyperactive. The first seminar of the kind took place at Kindergarten No.2 in Durlesti.
