Deposits made by legal entities at Investprivatbank will be paid back gradually

The problems faced by the legal entities that deposited money at Investprivatbank will be solved in accordance with the law, said Dorin Dragutan, the governor of the National Bank of Moldova, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. He said the liquidator named by the central bank is assessing the assets of the insolvent bank in order to sell them and pay the debts. The deposits will be paid back through Banca de Economii (BEM). Dragutan said the National Bank recovered the 50 million lei that it granted to BC Investprivatbank as the central bank is one of the major creditors and the financial institutions pay their debts to them first of all. As to the 180 million lei that the investment funds deposited with Investprivatbank, Dorin Dragutan said the funds will get back the money in the same way as the other legal entities. The governor did not want to confirm or refute that Banca de Economii bought the assets of Investprivatbank, as representatives of the central bank announced earlier. He did not answer the question whether BEM's decision to provide money for paying the deposits backs and reducing the tension on the banking market was a transaction or a political act. He advised the reporters to put this question to BEM and Investprivatbank. Asked how long it will take to restore the money to the depositors, legal entities and shareholders, Dragutan said the process could last for several years judging by the experience of other bankrupt banks in Moldova.
