The liquidator of BC Investprivatbank (IPB) SA accepted 4,186 applications for transferring deposits of 344 million lei during July 1-7. Ion Ropot has transferred 260.5 million lei, including the equivalent of 86.4 million lei in foreign currency, to Banca de Economii SA, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the National Bank of Moldova
During the mentioned period, the failed bank issued recommended notices confirming the debt towards 7,100 depositors – legal entities.
As it takes from one to three days to move the money, the amounts transferred by the liquidator and those registered at Banca de Economii are not the same. A sum of 176 million lei, including the equivalent of 4.5 million lei in foreign currency, has been transferred to Banca de Economii starting with July 1. This is the value of 3,315 deposits.
The central bank withdrew the license of Investprivatbank on June 19, arguing the bank presented false reports. The decision was published in the Official Gazette on June 23. The IPB depositors protested, demanding that they are paid their money back. Three persons from the bank’s administration, including its director, were arrested. The Government announced it will purchase the failed bank as an undividable package through Banca de Economii, which is owned mainly by the state.
