Not only the depositors born in 1926 will be paid back the money deposited at Banca de Economii (BEM) at the second stage this year, as announced earlier. The Government extended the list of recipients by the depositors born in 1927 and 1928.

The depositors born in 1991 will be also refunded this year, but at the first stage.

According to the Ministry of Finance, 31 million lei was transferred to BEM in the first half of 2013. This is 38.8% of the 80 million lei budgeted for paying back the deposits this year. As the average amount paid weekly is about 1 million lei, it was determined that it will be possible to also refund the depositors born in 1927 and 1928.

Under the law on December 12, 2002, the state pays back the deposits registered at the BEM by January 21, 1992. At the first stage, the refunding ratio is 1 ruble :1 leu for the first 1,000 rubles, while at the second stage 2.5 rubles : 1 leu for the rest of the amount.
