Denominations Law changes name
The Law on Denominations and their Component Parts will be named the Law on the Freedom of Conscience, Thinking, Religion, Organization and Functioning of Religious Entities, Info-Prim Neo reports.
After the Government’s meeting where a relevant bill was approved, Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim said there is a discrepancy between the name of the law and the matters regulated by the law. Article 1 regulates the relations between the freedom of conscience and religion, while the name of the law suggests that it regulates only the religions and their components. The new name meets the European requirements in the field.
According to the minister, the amendments specify the procedure for registering the religious organizations and suggest describing the documents needed for registration in the law. It is also proposed adjusting the term for registering religious organizations to the general term of 30 days stipulated for noncommercial organizations.
