Denmark has allocated €5.4 million to help vulnerable Moldovans pay their energy bills. The support includes compensation for the increased cost of gas and electricity and is aimed at energy-vulnerable citizens during the winter period. The announcement was made by the Danish Embassy in Moldova, IPN reports.
This new assistance complements Denmark’s existing support for Moldova, which totals over €30 million.
At the same time, Denmark supports Moldova’s efforts to improve energy efficiency, transition to green energy, and align its energy sector with European standards, the Embassy stated.
According to the Danish envoy to Chisinau, Søren Jensen, "Denmark condemns Russia's use of energy as a geopolitical weapon in Moldova. These actions have a significant impact on Moldovan citizens, who are facing rising gas and electricity costs".
