Moldovan judoka Denis Vieru won the Baku Grand Slam after beating Azerbaijan’s Nijat Shikhalizada with a spectacular ippon in the final.

Earlier, Vieru scored another four victories in the 66 kg weight class against Tumurkhuleg Davaadorj of Mongolia, Sunggat Zhubatkan of Kazakhstan, Ukrainian’s Georgii Zantaraia and Uzbekistan’s Mukhriddin Tilovov.

“I’m a judoka of world level already and my opponents look at me with fear and respect. Psychologically, I’m ready for new accomplishments,” Denis Vieru stated for IPN.

This year, Denis Vieru also won the Paris Grand Slam and the Antalya Grand Prix.
