Judoka Denis Vieru has won the Grand Slam of Abu Dhabi. In the first round, he beat the representative of the hosts Ali Alyammahi, IPN reports.

Later, for the first time he won against his Moldovan mate Radu Izvoreanu, who is six years younger. In the semifinals, Denis took revenge on France’s Walide Khyar for the defeat he suffered in Paris last month. He scored his fourth victory in Abu Dhabi in the final against Russia’s Ismail Misirov.

This year, Denis Vieru, 25, also won the Zagreb Grand Prix and ranked second at the Baku Grand Slam.

Also in the 66 kg weight class, Radu Izvoreanu finished fifth after being defeated by Ukraine’s Bogdan Iadov in the match for the bronze medal.
