Judoka Denis Vieru was close to winning a bronze medal at the Doha World Judo Masters 2021, IPN reports.
The 24-year-old athlete scored three victories in the 66 kg weight class, against Azerbaijan’s Nijat Shikhalizada, Italy’s Manuel Lombardo and Russia’s Aram Grigoryan, but was beaten by the future winners An Baul of South Korea and Vazha Margvelashvili of Georgia.
Victor Sterpu enters the competition in Doha, in the 73 kg class, tomorrow, January 12.
