Businessman Denis Urechi said that Minister of Finance Veronica Sirețeanu is a person whose integrity is dubious. Her husband Octavian Sirețeanu, by loans and debt cession, gained huge sums of money from persons featured in the bank fraud case.
In a news conference hosted by IPN, Denis Urechi said that about €500,000 was obtained in loans from Ion Lambantu and Iurie Drozd, who are investigated in the bank fraud case. He also obtained debt cession for about €50,000 from Ion Lambantu.
According to Denis Urechi, Octavian Sirețeanu is the lawful successor of Ion Bulgacov, who owns assets that were pledged with Banca de Economii. But in her property and personal interests statement, Veronica Sirețeanu says only that her husband has a salary of 19,000 lei, but does not indicate her husband’s loans totaling about €500,000, which were raised from the defendants in the bank fraud case.
According to the businessman, the money stolen at the first stage of the bank fraud was invested in cocaine smuggling. The prosecutors know this and the related facts are investigated within criminal cases managed by investigation bodies from outside Moldova.
In 2020-2021, commissions rogatory were established to determine the final beneficiaries of the money stolen from Banca de Economii. Namely in that period, it was determined where the stolen money is and who is the beneficiary. After Alexandr Stoianoglo was removed from the Prosecutor General’s Office, all the prosecutors who in that period handled the bank fraud case had criminal cases started against them. But these cases were put on hold because persons who hold senior state posts are also involved in this.
Denis Urechi said that he summited the informative note with the description of the events that took place and the precedents of the kind to Prime Minister Dorin Recean, but no measure has been taken during four months.
