Representatives of opposition parties criticize the Democratic Party’s proposal to ban the broadcasting by Moldovan TV channels of the newscasts of Russian TV channels. The issue was developed in the program “Expertise hour” on Jurnal TV channel, IPN reports.
“In the conditions of market economy, any consumer of information chooses by oneself the source of information for which this pays. The consumer has the right to choose what TV channels to watch,” said ex-Socialist Valentin Krylov.
Alex Cozer, one of the activists of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPDA), said the banning of the transmission of Russian TV channels will not solve the problem of propaganda and another goal is actually pursued. “In fact, Plahotniuc does not fight the Russian propaganda. There are different methods by which the people can receive TV. Our problem resides in internal propaganda,” he stated.
Journalist Vasile Nastase noted that the Russian propaganda cannot extend when only the TV channels controlled by the Democratic Party have national coverage.
Socialist MP Bogdan Tirdea made it clear that the Democrats’ initiative actually came from the U.S. “The United States allocated hundreds of millions of dollars for combating the propaganda that does not suit it in particular countries. It is about a geopolitical struggle here,” he stated.
