The Democratic Party has written separately to the DA and PAS, the parties forming the electoral bloc NOW, inviting them to negotiate a potential coalition. This was announced by Democratic vice president Vlad Cebotari at a press briefing.

“We want people to have clarity, as soon as possible, about the future of the good things started by the Democratic Party. We have made the first moves. On the very day of elections, the Democrats have called everybody to the negotiating table. We have stated that we will leave any grudge aside. We have written separately to DA and PAS inviting them to the negotiating table and today we reiterate our invitation, so that we can get an early start in thinking about a future political partnership and proceed promptly when election results are eventually validated”, stated Vlad Cebotari.

The Democrat also said his party would want to avoid early elections, “as this will mean a return to chaos, a brake on economic growth, on all the ongoing projects and on investments”.

The underlying principle of the proposed partnership would be “putting the interest of Moldovans, their desire to live better lives here in Moldova, first”. The Democrats think the partnership would ensure political, economic and social stability. Another major commitment would be the advancement of reforms and of the Association Agreement with the EU.

However, the proposed common foreign policy would be “multi-vectorial”, with a focus on developing relations with the neighbors Romania and Ukraine. “We will intensify our relations to promote the interests of Moldova, its people and the Moldovan business, with the United States of America, the Russian Federation and other Commonwealth states, with China, and also with emerging economies. We will continue our efforts towards a peaceful reintegration of Moldova while preserving a sovereign and unitary state”, stated Cebotari.
