Democrats could be in charge of economy and foreign affairs in case of coalition with PSRM

After the first round of negotiations, the Party of Socialists and the Democratic Party announced that they discussed not the distribution of ministries, but eventual directions of activity that could be the responsibility of the Democrats. Among these are the economy and the foreign affairs. The Democrats presented a bill “for the pro-European Moldova”, while the Socialists proposed that the future alliance should be based on the same political agreement that was signed by the PSRM with the ACUM Bloc, IPN reports.

The president of honor of the PDM Dumitru Diacov told a news conference that the bill “for the pro-European Moldova” implies a political commitment of the Democrats and based on this bill they will discuss the extent to which the PDM can assume particular responsibilities within the eventual coalition. “It is important to be able to provide that guarantee and to bring the multiple speculations that the Republic of Moldova deviates from the European commitments to an end,” stated Dumitru Diacov. According to him, time is needed to prove that the PDM, if it agrees to form a coalition, will be the guarantor that will make sure that the Republic of Moldova does not deviate from the course that it has been following for ten years.

The Democratic heavyweight noted the discussions were held in a friendly atmosphere. They discussed not institutions, but activity directions. If the PDM undertakes half of the nine ministries, it will be something normal, but it is not enough for the PDM to want and a compromise with those who are now in power should be reached. The PDM will form a coalition with the PSRM only if the Socialists accept the program proposed by the Democrats.

The PSRM’s executive secretary Vlad Batrîncea reiterated that the future political alliance should be based on the political agreement that was signed by the Party of Socialists and the ACUM Bloc last September. More discussions will be held this weekend. The government program will focus on the sustainable economic development, social programs and the foreign policy of Moldova. The Democrats said they represent a pro-European force and the PSRM sees no problems in this regard as the Republic of Moldova is a European country. The Socialists are ready to undertake the European standards and values in the interests of the people.
