Democrats against 'political circus'

“We are not here for electoral hype and show through party rivalries. We dislike the strategy of dividing and hope to discourage all those who stick to it”, Marian Lupu, head of the Democratic Party (PDM), has said during an electoral meeting in Ungheni, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Democrats have chosen a new approach to the relationship with people. PDM wants to compete with other parties only in solving citizens’ real problems, according to Lupu. He stressed that people’s daily problems such as the low wages, obsolete social systems (education, healthcare, public order, culture) must top politicians’ list of priorities and promised PDM would fight for this. “I want you to realize this suffering Moldova doesn’t belong to Ghimpu or Filat, the actual governors, neither to Voronin, the former leader. Not even to Marian Lupu. There’s only one Moldova and it belongs to us all. It’s time we build a Whole Moldova, strong and unitive, where all citizens feel free and safe”, Lupu said. “We need us to unite with ourselves, all the Moldovans must become one and the same for all of us, no matter the nationality”, he added. Lupu is disappointed that so far, political parties failed to identify a unique and true national idea for Moldova. “All the ideas were either against someone or referred to unattainable promises. However, we think this idea is obvious: Moldova should be a country of welfare and social equity, where the man and his problems, mutual respect, progress and care for our children’s future are absolute priorities”, he said. “The quality of governing after November 28 depends on politicians’ capacity of constructive dialogue. It will be a test for the patriotism they exhibit on TV. How can you promise and realize your electoral program, if you’re not able to dialogue neither with your partners, nor with your opponents? The key of successful democratic government is cooperation, not the pathological lust for power, hidden behind image tricks and populism, while the country is suffering”, Lupu stated. He highlighted that PDM was against a campaign in which aggressiveness and political rivalry were priorities and that’s why it proposed parties should sign a Memorandum regarding Moldova’s priorities immediately after the elections. According to Lupu, this would be a “proof of maturity and reliability”.
