Democratic Party puts forward bill on social stores

The MPs of the Democratic Party (PDM) drafted a bill concerning the construction of social stores, about which the party’s leaders informed last week. In a news conference on Wednesday, the chairman of the PDM Marian Lupu said that the procedure for approving the bill was already initiated so that they hope that it will be passed by the end of the current session and will start to be implemented in 2014, IPN reports.

He specified that the social shops will be built based on public-private partnerships or sponsorships and offered free to the economic entities, which will don’t have to pay rental. “The law suggests that the prices of social products should be reduced by an amount equal to the saved money,” said Marian Lupu.

“The colleges from the PDM will make direct investments in this respect so as to show that this idea is supported both by the public authorities and by the economic entities.”

Marian Lupu said such a practice exists in some of the EU member states, but would be a novelty for Moldova.

The idea of constructing social stores and social dwellings was made public by the first deputy chairman of the PDM Vlad Plahotniuc, who said that he will personally deal with these projects.
