The representatives of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) currently manage one third of the districts and ten of the 17 districts where the head of district was already chosen, IPN reports.
According to the latest reports, the PDM manages the districts of Donduseni, Orhei, Nisporeni, Soldanesti, Stefan Voda, Sangerei, Criuleni, Rezina, Glodeni, and Floresti.
In another six districts, the district heads are representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM). These are Calarasi, Causeni, Telenesti, Ialoveni, Cahul, and Anenii Noi districts.
The Party of Socialists’ has now one district head, in Taraclia.
The PDM is the only parliamentary party that achieved better results compared with the local elections of 2011 and the legislative elections of 2014. In the district councils, the PDM improved its score from 15.4% in 2011 to 17.58%, while the PLDM’s score fell from 22.6% to 18.3%. The score of the Party of Communists decreased from 36.9% to 10.2%, while of the Liberal Party - from 16.2% to 12.6%.
The PDM also has the largest number of mayors chosen in the June 14 elections and in the June 28 runoff vote.
