The Party “Democratia Acasa” (“Democratic at Home”) (PDA) has issued a public statement, calling on Prime Minister Iurie Leanca to make public the real intentions concerning the signing and ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU and to initiate the procedures for really reforming the state, by jailing corrupt and discredited politicians, not only making statements for the sake of the Europeans.
In a news conference at IPN, the party’s head Vasile Costiuc said the Association Agreement with the EU, which is to be signed in Brussels on June 27, will have the effect of a boomerang and will hit directly the individuals who parasitize the state. The given accord requires removing corruption, de-monopolizing the economy and de-politicizing justice.
Vasile Costiuc noted that if the current is truly pro-European, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, immediately after the signing of the accord, should demand arresting the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat, who misused the power during his premiership, and the corrupt politicians who are investigated in the neighboring state Romania and are protected by the Moldovan government. The administration must show, by accelerating the reforms, that they support the country’s integration into the EU and does not pursue the goal of appropriating the European funds that will come in larger volumes after the accord is signed.
“We call on the government to start to really reform the state, without hesitation, by dismissing discredited statesmen and functionaries. The signing of the Association Agreement does not have geopolitical consequences for Moldova and the team of the PDA does not challenge its importance. But we urge the international organizations working in Chisinau to closely monitor the implementation of the accord and to react promptly if the made commitments are not fulfilled,” reads the party’s statement.
Vasile Costiuc added that the party is ready to present its own plan for identifying the illegalities and removing the discredited politicians. In this connection, he asked for an audience with the EU Ambassador to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola.
The members of the party said that for enjoying the people’s support in promoting the European message, the government must ensure more transparency in the management of the European funds and must stop the cases of embezzlement through companies created overnight with the aim of appropriating EU funds.
