The Movement “Democratia Acasa” (“Democracy at Home”) has announced its decision not to participate in the November 28 early parliamentary elections as a contender. In a news conference on October 19, the organization's leader Vasile Costiuc said the decision was determined by the extremely tense social-political situation in the country. According to the Movement, the political class is divided, while the population is disappointed, disgusted and disoriented by the obscure political games and attempts by certain mafia groups close to the Communists Party (PCRM) not to allow stability to be established in Moldova. Vasile Costiuc said that it will be a national catastrophe if the PCRM returns to power as Moldova will miss its chance to follow the European integration course. “In order to hinder the Bolshevik-Communists from gaining control of Moldova, we must join together and contribute to the correct informing of the population, explain and promote the European values, strengthen the pro-European parties,” Vasile Costiuc said. “Democratia Acasa” Movement members Alina Stavila, Maria Diminet and Radj Carbune said the young members of the organization will work together with civil society as volunteers in the election campaign and will promote the national interests of Moldova, not of a party. They will urge the citizens in Moldova and abroad to vote for political forces that want the country to become part of the EU, so as to save it from communism. The Movement also announced the initiation of a project themed “International Caravan – Yes for a European Moldova” that will be implemented in Moldova and within the Moldovan communities in the EU, the U.S. and Canada. The project will be launched in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau in November.
