The initiative group of the Movement “Democratia Acasa” (DA) (“Democracy at Home”) accuses the leader of the National-Liberal Party (PNL) Vitalia Pavlicenco of intimidating and exerting pressure on young people who want to get involved in the social-political life. Vasile Costiuc, a member of the initiative group of the DA, made related statements in a news conference held at Info-Prim Neo on April 21. According to Vasile Costiuc, the young PNL members expressed interest in the DA project and took part in two meetings where they discussed the necessity of joining the young people and creating a new political class in Moldova. When Vitalia Pavlicenco found out about those meetings, she had a hysterical reaction,” Costiuc said. In a telephone conversation, Vitalia Pavlicenco demanded that the Movement “Democratia Acasa” stop recruiting young people from other parties. “As the politician treated us rudely, we consider that the intelligent and ambitions young people should not be near a hysterical and authoritarian leader, but in a team where democracy is at home. Missis Pavlicenco had 20 years at her disposal to show high performance in the political field,” Vasile Costiuc said. The DA condemns the methods of pressure and intimidation. “Time has come for the young people to govern this country, while the politicians like Pavlicenco should understand that their era came to an end.” Maria Diminet, another member of the initiative group, said the movement will not tolerate impudent approaches. “We will react every time and recommend Vitalia Pavlicenco and other politicians not to fight with the young people who do not pose a threat to the country,” Diminet said. The initiative group of the DA advised Vitalia Pavlicenco to accept that she reached political retirement. They made a symbolic political pensioner's permit and a diploma for her and brought her flowers as well as sunflower seeds for the leisure time. The vice president of the youth organization of the PNL Nicolae Margarint came to the news conference held by the representatives of the DA to read a statement signed by six leaders of the PNL. The statement says that Vasile Costiuc tried two times to convince young members of the PNL to join the Movement “Democratia Acasa”. The signatories say the rights and interests of the young people are respected in the PNL and no defections are likely. “The young members of the National-Liberal Party condemn any migration from party to party, including of the young people who most of the times pursue personal interests,” the statement says.
