Democratia Acasa demands 'truth about April 7'
A group of supporters and members of the mostly youth-oriented Democratia Acasa /Democracy at Home/ (DA) Party staged a rally on Saturday in Chisinau to mark the third anniversary of the 7 April 2009 events and “demand the truth” about them, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We came here to demand justice and the truth for the youths who are no longer willing to live in a totalitarian communist system right in the middle of Europe. We came here to peacefully protest and tell the authorities that we didn't forget what for we took to the streets in April 2009. If necessary, we will take to the streets again to demand our rights that are not respected even today”, declared DA president Vasile Costiuc.
The participants handed out leaflets to the passersby which said that they wanted to create a new political class in Moldova, to create conditions for the migrant workers to return to the country, to reduce the number of deputies in Parliament to 61 and to adopt a new Constitution.
Lighting candles at the statue of Stephen the Great, they then relocated they rally to the Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Interior, requesting results of the official probe into the April events.
The party also suggested that the ruling Eurointegration Alliance should depoliticize the law-enforcement bodies and should replace the high-ranking officers that were “compromised by politics” with civilian officials.
