Democrat MP proposes ban on use of extinct states' symbols

MP Iurie Bolboceanu of the Democratic Party proposes to prohibit political parties from using symbols of states that ceased to exist. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the MP gave the example of the bi-color flag used by the PCRM during certain manifestations. The MP said that this category includes the symbols of the USSR, MSSR, Romanian Kingdom, and others. “Promoting different symbols as representing our state is confusing the population, diminishes the patriotic spirit and leads to the profanation of state symbols”, argued the MP. Iurie Bolboceanu added that the use of such symbols may lead to the division of society and undermining of the state symbols. The MP stated that if the bill is approved in principle in the first reading, sanctions will also be added before submitting it for a second reading.
