Democrat Andrei Popov leaves Parliament

The MP of the Democratic Party (PDM) Andrei Popov decided to vacate his seat. He said he wants to concentrate his efforts on the other post that he holds, of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Info-Prim Neo reports. Andrei Popov tendered his resignation on December 15. He said he will leave the Parliament because he has a lot of work to do at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, not yet the party. After the legislature accepts his resignation, a seat of MP will be declared vacant. Democrat MP Dumitru Diacov, who is the president of honor of the PDM, said Andrei Popov will be replaced by the substitute candidate Oleg Sarbu. Recently, Popov was involved in a conflict with the Communist MP Iurie Muntean. The MPs got into an argument in one of the halls of the Palace of the Republic, where the Parliament holds its sittings. Under the law, the MPs can serve as MP and Minister simultaneously during half a year. The Parliament will examine Andrei Popov's resignation on Monday, December 28.
