The phenomenon of corruption will be put on stage at the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”. The National Anticorruption Center (NAC), in partnership with the Theater Center of Moldova, launches a project to sensitize the young people to the serious consequences of corruption for the integrity of the person and the development of the country. Representatives of NAC said that they aim to reach the conscience of young people so as to root out corruption from society, IPN reports.
“We will launch this initiative to organize a contest of dramaturgy and short films for all those who are interested, either beginners or recognized one. As a result of this contest, the jury will designate the winner that will be presented on the stage of the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”. The dramatic works will become resources of study and production for directors, teachers, young people who are interested in the fight against corruption. There will be issued 500 copies and distributed to national schools. The short films will find the public through the agency of websites. The play on the stage of the National Theater will be presented to young people from the municipality of Chisinau and from five districts of the country,” the head of the Theater Center of Moldova Alina Țurcanu told a news conference.
Representatives of the NAC said the Center’s volunteers will tell young people about the effects of corruption at the beginning of each play and will this way contribute to raising an upright generation. “Until now, we tried to speak about corruption by animated cartoons, songs, games and will now do this through theater. We want the messages to be presented so that we show the positive side. We want to explain why we need to be upright. The young people should realize that integrity is a key value,” said the head of the NAC’s Anticorruption Education Division Ion Pruteanu.
“We are sure that the project we are to implement together will be a successful one as we know the organizational potential of Alina Țurcanu and we know that it will be an interesting product. The National Theater had a number of projects on the social segment. That’s why we will continue to have a dialogue with our public. The theme of corruption should be addressed. The play will be designed as a platform for discussions about corruption, which will be held after the play,” said the vice director of “Mihai Eminescu” National Theater” Gennady Gâlca.
The project “Democracy through theater: Reflection of integrity in stage mirror, young people at the forefront” is financially supported by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova.
