Demand at two centers of excellence exceeds supply

The number of applicants at two excellence centers within the campaign of admission to technical professional education institutions during five days exceeded the offer. According to the Ministry of Education, the most popular specialties are those from the food industry, information technology and teacher training, IPN reports.

During July 18-22, the ICT Center of Excellence of Chisinau municipality received 526 applications, by 101 more than the placed provided in the admission plan, while the Center of Excellence in Services and Food Processing of Balti recorded 437 applications, as opposed to 345 available places.

A similar situation is witnessed at colleges, with the Balti Railway Technical College and the Comrat Teacher Training College being the most popular ones. So far the number of applications submitted to these institutions exceeded the admission plan places by 34 and, respectively, 59.

Among other popular institutions are the Center of Excellence in Economy and Finance, the Teacher Training Colleges of Chisinau, Orhei and Comrat, the Vocational Schools No.5 and No. 2 of Chisinau.

The admission average at technical professional education institutions during the first week of the start of the admission campaign is 30% for vocational schools and over 55% for colleges and centers of excellence.

The admission campaign takes place in two stages. The first stage for vocational schools is held during July 18 and August 12, while the rerun contest to fill the unoccupied places will take place between August 16 and 25. For colleges and centers of excellence, the first admission stage is held between July 18 and August 5, while the rerun contest will be staged between August 9 and 12.
