The delay in electing the President of Moldova only benefits the Communists as this situation will help the representative of the PCRM to win the local elections in Chisinau, chairman of the Association “Moldova Mea” (“My Moldova”) Fiodor Ghelici said, Info-Prim Neo reports. ”Most of those who support the Communist Party are socially underprivileged persons and pensioners, who are among the hardest hit by the unstable situation, the high prices, the political crisis, the non-election of the head of state. The number of these persons is increasing and Chisinau will be ultimately headed by a representative of the PCRM,” Fiodor Ghelici said in a news conference on Monday. According to him, such an outcome can be avoided only if the Liberal Democratic Party and the Communist Party form an alliance and reach a compromise as regards the election of the President. “We call on Voronin and Filat to reach an agreement so as to overcome the political crisis and stop the destruction of the national economy,” Fiodor Ghelici said. In the same news conference, Igor Caldare, former director of the National Metrology and Standardization Institute, said the MPs should stop behaving egoistically. The Association “Moldova Mea” will suggest a list of conditions that the parliamentary parties should fulfill to elect the head of state. The future President must not be a party member, but should have wide general knowledge, support the country’s statehood, etc. Igor Caldare said there are two methods for voting in the head of state – the formation of a wide coalition that would involve all the parliamentary groups and the formation of a coalition involving the PLDM and PCRM. “There are no major dissimilarities between the parliamentary parties. They all have a popular doctrine. It is neither liberal, nor conservative or socialist. They can work together if they forget about arrogance,” said Igor Caldare.
