Mayor general Ion Ceban announced the municipality’s intention to lay out traffic lanes for public transport that will ensure connection between a number of districts of Chisinau. Experts were entrusted with the task of designing schemes for three key routes.
In a message on Facebook, the mayor said the three routes are: 1. Calea Ieşilor – Ştefan cel Mare şi Sfânt – Viaduct – Dacia; 2. Alba Iulia – I. Creangă – Viaduct – Dacia and 3. Mircea cel Bătrîn – B. Voievod – Gr. Vieru – A. Mateevici and back up to Renaşterii Naţionale Blvd, IPN reports.
“The public transport that is being modernized in the municipality of Chisinau (buses, trolleybuses) should run without impediments, swiftly, conveniently and according to the set timetable so that the people do not wait for long minutes in stations,” wrote Ion Ceban. “We invest a lot in the modernization of the municipal bus and trolleybus companies so that the people benefit from a high-quality transit system.”
Dedicated lanes for public transport aware already created on G. Vieru Blvd - Mitropolit Bănulescu-Bodoni St and on A. Pushkin St. Internet users posted photos showing that the traffic participants do not obey the sign “Lane Reserved for Public Transport”, primarily during rush hour, so that the buses and trolleybuses get stuck in traffic jams.
