President Maia Sandu’s decree to nominate Natalia Gavrilița for Prime Minister again divided the MPs into new camps. The Socialists intend to challenge the decree to the Constitutional Court, while those from the PPPDA accuse the PAS of trying to monopolize the political right. The Democrats are disappointed with the situation witnessed yesterday in Parliament, while the PAS MPs maintain snap elections can be triggered only this way, IPN reports.
The PAS MPs welcomed President Maia Sandu’s decision to nominate Natalia Gavrilița for Prime Minister again and to reject the candidate proposed by the PSRM-Shor alliance.
“This step forms part of the consistent line announced earlier and after the presidential elections, which is aimed at snap parliamentary elections. We must get rid of this ballast that is the inheritance of Dodon, Shor and Plahotniuc. We must get rid of the turncoats who changed by three parties. This can be done only by the citizens,” PAS MP Igor Grosu stated in the talk show “Politics” on Tv8 channel.
The Socialists accuse Maia Sandu of usurpation of the state power and intend to go to the Constitutional Court after explanations.
”Maia Sandu stated her viewpoint strictly politically. Her opinion has nothing to do with the Constitution. The supreme law says it clearly that the President is obliged to nominate a candidate supported by at least 51 MPs. I’m sure that the constitutional law experts will pronounce soon and society will see that what Maia Sandu and her party do does not coincide with the real state of affairs in the country,” stated Socialist MP Gaik Vartanean.
The MPs of the PPPDA are also dissatisfied with Maia Sandu’s actions. They said they are ready to assume a minority anti-crisis government led by Andrei Năstase, but Maia Sandu ignored their proposal.
“We cannot leave the country and the people face to face with the pandemic, with the problems that can be solved only by the Government. Our proposal is trenchant and very clear, but none of the former partners cooperates with us and this is regrettable. The PAS wants to monopolize the whole right,” said PPPDA MP Vasile Năstase.
The Democrats provided details about negotiations held behind the scenes and said that the Socialists invited them to sign for candidate Mariana Durleșteanu.
“We refused to sign from the start. We were invited to sign in favor of Missis Durleșteanu instead of the MPs of the Shor Party and the independent MPs,” stated Democratic MP Ion Leucă.
In a press briefing in the evening of February 11, President Maia Sandu announced that she nominated again Natalia Gavriliţa for the post of Prime Minister. “I asked Natala Gavriliţa to form the team, to prepare the government program and to present them to Parliament,” she stated. Maia Sandu said that the presidential administration received a letter by which 54 MPs propose a candidate for Prime Minister. The letter contains signatures of persons who she doubts stated their will freely, of persons who were involved in the bank fraud and of MPs who switched parties and parliamentary groups for several times.
Earlier the same day, Parliament didn’t give a vote of confidence to the Cabinet proposed by the candidate for Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.
