The reading hall of the Chisinau-based library “B. P. Hasdeu” is housing tapestries, prints and decorative objects made by Irina Burlaca. This is the artist's first personal exhibit that includes her most recent works. This is a scrupulous work , but it gives you satisfaction and makes you feel cheerful, said the artist, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Irina Burlaca said she grew fond of this art while in the primary classes, when she went to an embroidery workshop. “I have liked the folk art and traditions since I was a child. I try to make the wool threads into decorative items. I prefer to use warm colors and chromatic contrasts. As for many other professional artists, the traditional Moldovan carpet will always remain for me a source of inspiration,” Irina Burlaca said. Besides classical methods, the artist tries to use different modern weaving techniques and such materials as leather, wood and metal that she turns into geometric and abstract designs. The artist's mother Ludmila Burlaca said Irina is modest, but very ambitious. “Until the eleventh grade, she wanted to be a translator, but her heart made her choose another area of work, which is much closer to her soul,” she said. Painter Ecaterina Ajder, the former teacher of the artist, said Irina Burlaca's first exhibition contains works that can be considered professional. “These works have a fresh spring air that show knowledge in decorative-textile techniques and modern design,” she stated, adding that it is not at all easy to make tapestries that require patience and a lot of time. Elena Sengadi, senior librarian at “B.P. Hasdeu”, said the library has hosted exhibitions for seven years, as part of the Salen Start program implemented in cooperation with the Exhibitions Center “Constanin Brancusi”. Irina Burlacu's exhibition includes 17 tapestries, four oil paintings and four prints. It will be open until May 4.
