Decisions on arms deals to be adopted by Government

The Government will make all the decisions related to the sale of arms and ammunition by Moldova, taking over this prerogative from the Ministry of Economy. Amendments to this effect to the Regulations on the Sale of Military Equipment and Weaponry were adopted by Parliament on Thursday, Info-Prim Neo reports. The amendments also require the Government to ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration for an advice notice before making a final decision on such a deal. “We've raised the level of decision from the Ministry of Economy to the Cabinet. Any such decision will be made by consulting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is the agency with expertise on the relations with one country or another. Special services will also play a greater role”, said MP Veaceslav Ionita, the head of Parliament's Economy Commission.
