The decision to abolish the visa requirements for Moldovans has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union. In a news conference in Chisinau, MEP Jean-Marian Marinescu said this is the success of the government and of the people who supported it, IPN reports.
Jean-Marian Marinescu noted that the decision will take effect in 20 days and the Moldovans will travel easier in the EU. Moldova must want to become an accession candidate of the European Union, which is an area of peace, security and prosperity.
The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat told the same news conference that an important stage in ensuring freedom was closed today. “From this moment, we can count the days until we obtain our right to freedom,” he said.
The also said that it is a victory that cannot be underestimated. “We will stage large-scale events in all the district centers and in Chisinau. We start the countdown to the moment when we will be able to travel freely in the EU,” he stated.
The politician added that they pledge to make effort to achieve the next objective – to obtain the status of accession candidate of the EU.
