The debtors will not be evicted from the own house during the cold period of the year, if they do not have another place of stay, including during a state of emergency, siege or war and during a state of public health emergency. The bill to amend the Execution Code was given a second reading and was adopted by the MPs, IPN reports.
The legislative proposal was put forward by President Maia Sandu. The official said the bill is designed to protect the people with low incomes from abusive evictions from the own house owing to debts. The list of goods and incomes that cannot be sequestrated was extended and includes personal effects or household goods, such as furniture, on condition that the value of each of these items does not exceed 5,000 lei. The list was also supplemented with possessions of debtor’s children, religious items, wedding rings and other objects with a sentimental or personal value.
Moreover, if the debtor is a farmer, the food needed until the new harvest, the animals that help earn one’s living and the fodder needed until the new harvest cannot be sequestrated.
