General Inspectorate for Emergencies deputy head Alexandru Oprea said the carried out assessments showed some of the building elements could collapse. It was decided to take these away so as to ensure access to another part of the building. A decision as to the whole building will be taken later. All the works will be performed in a mechanized way and no person will be there inside during the works.

The company responsible for the dismantling works estimated that these could last for ten days. When the debris is cleared from the place, experts will assess the technical state of the construction and will pronounce on the subsequent steps.

At the end of this September, the building of the National Philharmonic was seriously damaged in a fire that was extinguished with difficulty. The ceiling of the main hall of the building caved in.
