Death toll from COVID-19 rises to 94

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection reported 194 new cases of COVID-19 following the processing of over 1,000 samples. All the confirmed infections are local transmission cases. The number of deaths associated with the novel coronavirus rose to 94, IPN reports.

After the April 25 meeting of the Singe Command Center than manages the COVID-19 pandemic, Minister of Health Viorica Dumbrăveanu said that 55 of the 194 new cases were registered in the municipality of Chisinau, while 38 in Dubăsari district, 37 of which at the temporary placement center for persons with disabilities. The authorities plan to test all the over 300 beneficiaries of the center for COVID-19. Thirty-one new infections were recorded in the Transnistrian region.

As many as 825 infected persons recovered, but this figure does not include the patients from the left side of the Nistru.

The minister informed about a new outbreak at Municipal Clinical Hospital No. 1, where seven patients of the Perinatology Center tested positive for the virus.

In another development, Viorica Dumbrăveanu said the restrictive measures that are lifted on April 27 remain valid for the localities in quarantine.

Prime Minister Ion Chicu called on the citizens not to go to cemeteries on April 26 and 27 as the Sunday of the Dead will be observed in June this year.

A state of emergency was declared in Moldova for 60 days, until May 15. The number of confirmed infections with COVID-19 exceeds 3,300.
