The number of deaths associated with the novel coronavirus in Moldova now stands at 33. Currently, 168 patients confirmed with COVID-19 are in a serious state. Also, 107 infected persons got cured, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu stated after the April 13 meeting of the National Focal Point, IPN reports.
Adrian Belyi, head of the Clinical Anesthesia and Intensive Care Department of the Emergency Medicine Institute, said that 61 persons are in intensive care. Of these, 44 are in critical condition, being put on a ventilator. Three of the patients require hemodialysis.
As many as 1,662 infections with COVID-19 have been confirmed in Moldova so far. Of these, 121 were imported, while the rest are local transmission cases.
Of the 33 persons who lost the battle with COVID-19, three were doctors.
The health authorities call on the population to avoid public places and to keep the social distance of at least one meter. Those who returned from countries with an increased risk of infection or who contacted with an infected person should self-isolate at home for 14 days, including from the family members, and to call the family doctor. On the first symptoms, such as cough, fever and runny nose, one should call the emergency service 112.
A state of emergency was declared in Moldova for the period between March 17 and May 15.
