The number of persons confirmed with COVID-19 rose to 6,060 after the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection in the evening of May 17 reported 126 new infections. The death toll from the novel coronavirus reached 211, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Ministry said the 126 new infections are local transmission cases. Seven of the cases were recorded in the Transnistrian region.

Of those confirmed with the virus today, 24 are healthcare workers.

Two more persons succumbed to COVID-19 – a woman from Ungheni and another woman from the Transnistrian region.

As many as 933 tests have been done today – 749 primary tests and 184 rerun ones.
