Death toll from COVID-19 in Moldova rises to 51

After a new case of death caused by the novel coronavirus was reported in the morning press briefing held after the meeting of the National Focal Point, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection informed about four more deaths. The death toll now rose to 51, IPN reports.

According to the minister, the four include a woman aged
63 from Chisinau, another one of the same age from Orhei and a 68-year-old woman from Fălești, who were all admitted to the Emergency Medicine Institute in a serious state on April 5, 7 and, respectively, 8. The three women suffered from chronic diseases, had progressive pulmonary insufficiency, arterial hypertension and hypertensive heart disease.

The fourth victim is a man aged 46 from Glodeni, who was admitted to the hospital in Glodeni on April 14. The man suffered from ischemic cardiomyopathy, cardiac insufficiency and atherosclerosis.

Earlier today, the director of the Cahul District Hospital Oleg Creciun said a 72-year-old man from a locality situated near Cahul town, who was hospitalized on April 12, died at 5.40am this morning.

A number of 2,049 persons have been confirmed with COVID-19 in Moldova so far.
