Death toll from COVID-19 in Moldova at 712

The number of infections with the novel coronavirus totals over 21,700. About 6,000 of these are active cases. The virus so far claimed 712 lives in Moldova, IPN reports, quoting data presented by the secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection Konstantin Rymish in a news conference.

Vasile Guştiuc, vice director of the National Public Health Agency, said that 195 facilities of the national economy were examined during the past week and deviations from the norms imposed by the authorities were identified at 46 of them.

National Food Safety Agency director general Vladislav Cotici noted that 433 commercial units were inspected during July 15-21. There were made 70 contravention reports. Among the most frequent violations in markets are the absence or incorrect wearing of masks by buyers, crowdedness and non-measuring of the body temperature of each visitor.
