The deadline for submitting applications for the contest “Youth Capital 2019” was prolonged until October 12. The competition is open to Moldovan local public authorities of the first level that present an ambitious program for engaging the youth and developing the youth sector. The localities of Chisinau municipality and those that held the status of “Youth Capital” in 2016, 2017 and 2018 cannot take part.
Svetlana Savitski, consultant of the Youth Division of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, said the decision to extend the deadline for submissions was taken following requests from candidates that didn’t manage to submit applications by September 26. Four localities have applied so far.
The winner of the contest will receive up to 1 million lei in financial assistance from the Ministry, depending on the quality and relevance of the planned youth activities.
The status of “Youth Capital” in 2016 was held by Ialoveni, in 2017 by Varnița, while in 2018 by Cahul. Three applicants took part in the contest last year.
