Dead people and minors found in signature lists for Customs Union referendum
The Central Election Commission (CEC) decided that the Social Democratic Party may not initiate a referendum on Moldova's accession to the Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Union after finding that 197,000 out of 232,000 signatures submitted in the initiative's support were fake or otherwise invalid, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The CEC found, among other, that the submitted lists contained signatures of dead people, minors, and people with expired IDs. Only 34,000 signatures were valid, the CEC specified.
The Social Democratic Party announced its intention to organize a referendum on the accession to the Russia-centered Customs Union on 5 December 2011.
